BlommaBom-sewalong - Preparations
This is a lovely free project of the Love Quilting Magazine. It was started one month ago, in issue 86 with title New Scandi Block Series: BLOMMA. The pattern was created by Yasmeen K. Branton, on Instagram @sand.and.stars.
It is a 12 month sew-along. This will be my first hand applique quilt project so I am a bit nervous. I will share my experiences of what I have learnt about the hand applique technique in my blog.
I am using fabrics (Moda Fabrics) from my Tilkkunen store: One of my favorite designer BasicGrey's Grunge collection and Bella Solids.
I would really love to hear if you will also join, I would love to follow your progress and work also. You can get patterns from the Love Quilting Magazine.
What is needed to make the whole quilt
White fabric: 1½ m
Peach fabric: 1¼ m
Mid purple fabric: 1½ m
Dark purple fabric: 1¼ m
Navy fabric: 1½ m
Dark blue fabric: 1¼ m
Light blue fabric: 2 m
Light green fabric: ¾ m
Mid green fabric: 1 m
Backing fabric: 5½ m
Batting: 1.80 x 2.10 m
Binding fabric: ¾ m
Note: I changed the yards in the article to meters. That means you would actually need less fabric than above. But it is based on applique technique and my first such project, so I am ok with using some extra fabric.
