BlommaBom joint sewing - Preparations

I'm about to start a wonderful quilting project from Love Quilting Magazine. It started in issue 86 of the magazine a month ago under the name New Scandi Block Series: BLOMMA. I use Tilkkunen's Moda Fabrics cotton fabrics in this work and among them the Grunge and Bella Solids fabric collections of one of my favorite fabric designers , BasicGrey .

The designer of the patchwork is Yasmeen K. Branton, on Instagram @sand.and.stars . The instructions will be distributed during a 12-month joint sewing project. This is my first hand appliqué quilting, so I'm a little nervous. My purpose is to share my experiences with this technique and learning it in my blog.

It would be wonderful to hear if you also join this joint sewing and follow how your work progresses. You can get the necessary patterns from that Love Quilting Magazine.

For the whole patchwork you will need:

  • White fabric: 1½ m
  • Peach fabric: 1¼ m
  • Medium purple fabric: 1½ m
  • Dark purple fabric: 1¼ m
  • Navy fabric: 1½ m
  • Dark blue fabric: 1¼ m
  • Light blue fabric: 2 m
  • Light green fabric: ¾ m
  • Medium green fabric: 1 m
  • Background fabric: 5½ m
  • Cotton wool: 1.80 x 2.10 m
  • Binding fabric: ¾ m

Please note that I changed the measurement units of the article from yards to meters. Actually, you would need a little less fabric than above. But since it's an appliqué job and my first one, I reserve a little extra fabric for myself.
