BlommaBom Block 2
I wrote this blog post a long time ago but lost it somewhere. Now let me rewrite it.
The pattern of the second block was described in Love Quilt Magazine issue 87. I recommend buying the magazine, fortunately you can also get it electronically afterwards, so removing the old issue from the shops is not a problem. Yasmeen, the designer of the model, gives useful instructions in it. I think it's worth a read, especially if you're a hand applique beginner like me.
I was really excited when I started this job. After receiving the magazine and the model in it, I rolled up my sleeves and moved on without reading. The dark blue pinkest petal is my first block and as you can see I didn't bother to cut the concave parts of the leaves. Only later did I start to read the instructions in the magazine more closely and I got the other pink petals into a better shape with the help of the instructions.
In this block, I tried using a more discreet sewing thread. To be honest, I don't like working with it, even though the result is a really nice result. I would a million times prefer to use A urifil's 50wt sewing thread or a regular weight thread.
I used "freezer" paper again.
In the meantime, I also changed my iron. That's another story, but now I have a better iron that doesn't fit this freezer paper very well.
