Hobbs Tuscany Cotton Wool 80/20 mixed batting

Hobbs Tuscany Cotton Wool batting is a beautiful blend of 80% fine cotton and 20% superwashed wool. The batting is suitable for both hand and machine quilting as well as long-arm quilting. The batting's structure prevents the fibers from bunching and shifting.

The wool filling gives the batting a lovely density, highlighting the stitch patterns. It also gives the batting a nice softness and fit without affecting the batting's stability. Wool reduces the formation of permanent creases in your work, as it does not remember folding. Hobbs Tuscany Cotton Wool 80/20 blend batting is perfect for bedspreads and as a second layer of batting for special projects (Hobbs Tuscany 100% Wool batting for the back, a favorite of show quilters!).

Hobbs Tuscany Cotton Wool 80/20 blend batting is especially suitable for darker and darker fabrics. With light and completely white fabrics, the wool and unbleached cotton in the batting can darken the shade of the work. It is worth trying the batting on a small test piece with light fabrics first to see this shade change.

The cotton blend will withstand many washes and will soften over time. Gentle machine wash (cool water on a gentle cycle without spinning) and air dry or tumble dry on low heat are recommended.

Quilting work containing batting should be done at least every 10cm (4 inches). Batting can shrink by 3-5%.

We recommend getting to know this product before using it for the first time by doing small-scale experiments to see how it works when hand and machine quilting, how it behaves in the wash, and with lighter fabrics.

Pre-washing is not recommended for this or any of our other high-quality cotton products.
