Embla has received the Good Design Award for its innovative design and planning. On the front panel of the machine you will find direct selection buttons for stitches, which allow both experienced seamstresses and beginners to choose the right stitch. Since the direct selection buttons are large, this sewing machine is also suitable for older seamstresses. The sewing machine's stitch selection includes 30 utility, quilting, stretch and decorative stitches. The stitches also include 3 different one-step automatic buttonholes. The maximum stitch width is 7 mm. The machine has several time-saving functions such as needle threader, thread cutter, easy bobbin and tie-off function. The machine comes with several accessories, such as a removable additional tray and a hard dust cover, which makes it easy to transport and store the machine.
170 x 110 mm working space
The workspace measures 170 x 110 mm from the needle to the right. The workspace is perfect for everyday projects such as clothing making, patchwork and home decor projects.
LCD display
Select a stitch using the function buttons. The LCD display gives you all the information you need, including the selected stitch, stitch length and stitch width.
7 mm wide stitches and 71 needle positions
The stitch selection offers a wide range of stitches and the ability to sew 7 mm wide stitches. There are 71 needle positions, which means you can easily sew round and beautiful patterns. When you use the 7 mm wide stitch, your stitches will be fuller and stand out better in your sewing work. Choose from over 40 stitches in different stitch categories: utility stitches, buttonholes, appliqué, traditional stitches, quilting stitches and satin stitches.
Easy threading
Embla is easy and safe to thread. Threading the bobbin is quick, and the machine also comes with an extra bobbin “J”, which is more resistant to vibrations and is almost silent. Place the bobbin in the bobbin case and the machine automatically raises the bobbin thread. Threading the upper thread is just as easy: the horizontal thread spool ensures that the thread runs evenly and that the thread does not tangle while sewing. Threading is guided on the machine body for both the bobbin and upper threads, and threading the needle is done using the automatic needle threader.
Speed controller
You can adjust the speed using the slider on the front cover of the machine. The speed control is especially useful when sewing without the foot control (when sewing with the start/stop button), but it also works when sewing with the foot control.
Buttons: Thread cutting
The thread is cut automatically by pressing the automatic thread cutting button. The button's light signal flashes when the thread is cut. Do not lift the presser foot until the light stops flashing. When the threads are cut, raise the presser foot and pull the fabric out from under the presser foot by pulling the fabric backwards.
Buttons: Needle stop – needle up/down
This button allows you to set the needle to stay in the up or down position without having to touch the handwheel. Press the button twice to move the needle to the up position or to pick up the bobbin thread. The needle will always stay in the up position after you have made a buttonhole.
Buttons: Lockstitch
If the lock stitch button is pressed when a straight stitch or zigzag stitch is selected, the machine will automatically secure the stitch with six stitches at the same point. If you are sewing satin stitches or decorative stitches, the stitch will be tied off first, and then secured with six stitches.
Buttons: Reverse sewing
If the reverse button is pressed when a straight stitch or zigzag stitch is selected, the machine will sew in reverse as long as the button is pressed. If you are sewing satin stitches or decorative stitches, the machine will automatically stop and tie off the stitch.
Buttons: Start/stop
With the Décor series machines, you can sew without a foot control. Press the start/stop button to start or stop sewing. The machine starts sewing with a few slow stitches, after which the speed increases to the maximum speed set by the speed control. The button is red when the machine is sewing and green when the machine is stopped. Press and hold the button to slow down the sewing speed of the machine. When you release the button, the machine stops. This function makes it easy to sew corners, for example.
Presser foot holder
The presser foot holder is made of metal and holds the foot firmly in place. A small lever on the back of the foot makes it easy and quick to remove the foot.
Adjusting the presser foot pressure
You can adjust the pressure of the presser foot using the dial at the top of the front cover of the machine. The number on the dial indicates the amount of pressure in relation to the fabric and feed dogs.
Presser foot lift
With the additional presser foot lift, you can easily get thicker materials under the presser foot.
Thread cutter
The thread cutter is located on the left side of the machine body.
Guides on the needle plate, bobbin case cover and free arm
- You will find the following markings on the stitch plate:
- Centimeters and inches relative to the center position of the needle.
- 45, 60, 90, 120 degrees
- Angle guide for needle insertion point 16 mm/3/8”
- Inch markings 1/4, 3/8, 5/8
Illuminated sewing area
The brilliant LED lighting helps you where you need it most. Bright LEDs are placed in different positions, ensuring perfect illumination of the sewing area.
Superior Feed System™ - Lower feed
The synchronized and strong lower feed feeds the fabric evenly. The lower feed is square in shape and has a large feeding area. The feeder has many rows of teeth that move the fabric even before the needle hits the fabric.
Accessory box / free arm
You will find the accessory box on the front of the free arm. The accessory box stores the presser feet and needles that come with the machine. You will also find centimeter and inch rulers on the free arm table. If you want to use the additional level, remove the free arm and attach the additional level.
Protection
The machine comes with a hard plastic cover that protects your machine from dust and when you are transporting the machine.
