Hobbs Heirloom® Premium Cotton Blend 80/20 is a popular and versatile cotton blend batting that combines the softness of natural cotton with the durability and light stretch of polyester. The batting consists of 80% natural cotton and 20% fine polyester, and is made using a needle-punched technique, where a light resin treatment increases shape retention and makes it easier to handle when quilting.
You can vary the quilting result by changing the stitch spacing:
- Short sewing intervals produce a smooth, even surface
- Larger stitch spacing gives a beautiful, lightly embossed texture
The batting is unbleached, which is why its natural creamy cotton shade may slightly affect the tone of white and very light fabrics. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for medium and dark patchwork.
