Lexical - patchwork block and patchwork pattern

The Lexical patchwork block is suitable for sewing from leftover patches (i.e. "resource pieces"). There is also an alternative version of the block with added corner triangles. Block size including seam allowance is 7-1/2" x 7-1/2" (finished size 7" x 7"). The instructions use inch measurements. The English-language pattern prepared by Tilkunviilaaja has eight pages, where you can find detailed cutting and sewing instructions as well as excellent ironing tips with pictures. As a bonus, the pattern includes instructions on how to most sparingly cut the block parts from one layer cake fabric square (which is 10" x 10"). There is a fabric consumption estimate for the realization of a patchwork surface of 9 blocks x 12 blocks size.

The Lexical patchwork block is also suitable for a beginner patchwork enthusiast. It is still versatile enough that someone who has been doing quilting for a long time can get excited about it.
