Olympus Hana-Fukin Sashiko Embroidery Kit – Kaku Kikko Tsunagi
Bring home a Japanese craft tradition! Hana-Fukin ("flower cloth") is a traditional Japanese cotton cloth onto which beautiful geometric patterns are embroidered using sashiko stitches. The pattern in this kit is Kaku Kikko Tsunagi — an angular tortoise shell pattern. Kikko (亀甲) means tortoise shell in Japanese, which is a traditional symbol of longevity and good fortune. The Kaku variation brings an angular, modern interpretation to the classic pattern.
The embroidery instructions are pre-printed on the fabric – all you need to do is thread the needle and start stitching. The guide lines will disappear in the wash, leaving only your beautiful embroidery.
The finished cloth is suitable for:
- Kitchen towel or placemat fabric
- Pillow cover, bag, or patchwork
- Decorating clothes or home textiles
- Framed as a wall decoration
The kit includes:
- Pre-printed 100% cotton fabric (white, approx. 34 × 34 cm)
- Illustrated embroidery instructions
Please note: Thread and needle are not included in the kit. Approximately 80m of sashiko thread is needed for embroidery.
Care instructions: Hand wash in lukewarm water after embroidering and dry in the shade.
Suitable for: beginners and more experienced embroiderers.
